May 16, 3:30 (first grade room) SHOWTIME! Jack and the Beanstalk
Kiddos and teachers alike are super excited about our class play happening on May 16 at 3:30pm in the first grade room. We hope you can attend!
Here is how you can be helpful:
Attendance – we need all of our brilliant actors to rehearse with us every day!
Practice – practice with your child. Every child is working really hard on memorizing their lines.
Costuming – This weekend would be the perfect time to text me if you need a particular costuming item. I am digging through many theater bins at home.
Feast! – We are planning on having a delicious beany feast after the program. Please check your child's newsletter to find out which item you are asked to contribute.

Dress rehearsal!
Thursday morning -- please send your child with plenty of snacks and their costume in a bag or (if they are easy,) on them.
Needed items: whoopee cushion, large unicorn stuffed animal, fake chain saw, blue tooth speaker.
Needed crew: cinematographer, photographer.

More May Events!
We will be completing our last month of testing in the upcoming week. Please keep up with the homework and continue reading with your child each day to support them. It really makes a difference!

May 20: Krispy Kreme Fundraiser forms are due
"It's time for the Friends of TISA Krispy Kreme Fundraiser! Please return your child's order form to their teacher or the office by Monday, May 20th. LATE ORDERS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS FUNDRAISER. Our top 5 students will receive a gift card to the Storyteller 7. We are keeping things simple and are only selling original glazed doughnuts by the dozen. They will be $12/dozen and we will be taking cash or checks made payable to Friends of TISA. Payment will be due WITH your order forms on Monday, May 20, 2019. We will be picking up our complete order from the Krispy Kreme shop in Santa Fe on Thursday, May 23rd. You will be able to pick up your orders that afternoon. Please keep in mind that this is perishable food and will need to be picked up ASAP. It cannot be left over the weekend. If you can help with distribution, please let your teacher know.
Ask your families, friends, neighbors, coworkers...everyone! We are raising this money to build a greenhouse on our campus as well as putting in a vegetable garden and more perennial plants and trees. Please let me know if you have any questions."  Linda Seto, President of the Friends of TISA

Tuesday, May 21: full day outdoor field trip with FITaos
Field trip forms are in backpacks today (May 9). Please send them back on Monday (May 13). Only children with field trip documents filled out may attend the trips. Parents, please let me know if you'd like to join us on this trip. Space is limited. If you plan on attending the FITaos field trip, you might consider driving or carpooling with another parent.

This is the plan for May 21:
Departure from TISA: 9:00 am in FITaos vans
Return to TISA: 3:30pm
Destination: Rio Pueblo Gorge
It will be a FITastic extra EdVenturous hike in the vicinity of the Junction Bridge (near Pilar). We will hike up from the base of the Slide Trail to the Rim for some fun and fabulous games and wildlife seeking/activities, followed by our descent into the gorge stopping to explore and learn from the many arroyos in the Rio Pueblo Gorge.  The EdVenture will be full of safe and fun activity that encourage learning and connection to the natural world and their community. The youth will NOT BE ENTERING THE WATER in any way, shape or form.

The last club and tutoring sessions are held this week, ending on May 15. Aftercare will be available through May 23

Wednesday, May 22: If the weather is fair, we will spend a full day in downtown Taos. In the morning we will be visiting Twirl for a rocket launching workshop. In the afternoon we will be at the Fechin House touring their collection and creating art. Details about drop-off and pick-up will follow.
All chaperones are welcome.

May 23: report cards will be sent home

Monday, May 27: MEMORIAL DAY -- NO SCHOOL

Thursday, May 30: Last day of school! Field day and the long-awaited Color Run (both on campus).

MEMORY BOOKS
Here is a sweet idea for a keepsake: BRING IN A BOOK TO SIGN!  Every year you could have your child’s teachers/coaches/ classmates sign the book (for example, “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss, or any book you wish). Then you could give it as their high school graduation gift! If you’d like to start this tradition for your kiddo, please bring in a book (with a note that says if you’d like to keep it a secret).
