HOOT 6+ (with bonus info!)

     Hoot 6+   (with bonus info!)

Please read this note for added info for fall break. Thank you, and have a nice week off!

Several families asked about more homework!!! Here is what I can offer.
Math:
A math workbook, Everyday Math Home Links is going home with your child today.
Please work on completing pages 0-17 over fall break.
Do NOT send the math workbook back on Thursdays. Please keep the book at home. If the book is lost, I will not be able to provide a second copy for your child. There will be weekly homework assigned from the workbook for the rest of the year.

There is a free online program that the children enjoy. It is prodigy math.
To create a family/home account, please go to https://www.prodigygame.com/ and follow their instructions to sign up as a PARENT.

Reading:
20  minutes a day + please work on reading logs.
Please use Istation, the online reading software program. Instructions with your child’s logon information and how to load the software onto your home device were sent home in September.

Online portfolios:
We started working on our online portfolios. I will be sharing a link over the break for you to see your child’s work.

Scholastic Book Club Orders went out today (Oct 4). Because of the orders you placed, it was possible
to earn a free book for each child in class. We will all be soon enjoying reading a silly story from
the Fly Guy collection. Thank you!

Athletic Award goes to our first grade Jog-a-thon participants! Our long-winded sports enthusiasts
have earned a party from our PTA. Thank you, again, for your support!

Halloween:
Lots of excitement in the air! The children have been asking about our Halloween costumes. This year we will have a story theme. Children can be story characters (humans, superheroes, or animals) from books or family movies. Please do NOT send your child in his/her costume. Have him/her bring the costume in a bag. We will change into our costumes at school.
Also, please take note: ABSOLUTELY NO scary, gory, or violent items such as any weapon, blood, fake wounds, or masking please.
Also, we will uphold our NO CANDY policy for Halloween (and the day after). Please do not send any candy to share on Halloween or the day after. Please monitor your child’s lunch box for those days. That is where lots of candy sneaks into the class!
I will put out a sign-up sheet for healthy treats for our Halloween party (at 2pm on Oct. 31) as the date
approaches.

Thank you for your kind cooperation and strong support.

Warmly, Jutka
